They were happy when we warmed them up!
Despite forecasts of new frosts down to -10 degrees and shelling that disables electricity and heat supply systems, only 7% of Ukrainians are actively preparing to move to another place, reports the International Organization for Migration with reference to its survey. That is, even in the case of a long-term absence of basic communal services without information about the terms of their restoration, two out of three interviewees say that they will definitely not leave their home.
And then an enemy missile arrives and leaves no choice.
The beneficiaries of our project #We_heat_Ukraine_in_a_crowd_hour became a couple of pensioners, whose house burned down during another shelling by the Russian army. This is another terrorist attack against the civilian population. But it is also another contact of our Rotary Hub with the population. Through volunteer Inesa Maznits, we gave these elderly residents of Kharkiv a blanket sewn by our own hands. On one side, the blanket has a raincoat base that protects against moisture, on the other side - on fleece, and inside - heat-insulating hypoallergenic syntapon.
The production of blankets was started back in March 2022 with the aim of equipping unequipped and unsuitable wet rooms/shelters. And now, when almost a year has passed, new reasons have been found for tailoring, in particular, solving a number of household issues of IDPs, helping them heat their temporary homes.
We are grateful to the partners, patrons, and donors who financed and continue to finance this project. Together, we continue to provide assistance in wartime conditions!
