Believe me, these men and women, mostly elderly, have a lot to stress about. Yes, of course, the whole country has been "sitting on a powder keg" for 11 months. But next to these Kharkiv residents, those barrels explode almost every hour. All because their houses are located in the village of Vilkhuvatka, Kupyansk district. And the enemy does not stop shelling the community from tanks, mortars, barrel and rocket artillery. He does not stop committing crimes against the civilian population.
There is no gas supply here, there are interruptions with light and communication, shops are not open. And another - 9 km to the border with the Russian Federation. Due to the danger of encountering subversive groups, humanitarian missions do not really want to go to the border, although the village survives at the expense of a humanitarian or thanks to donations from relatives. People were and are being offered to leave, but they are staying at home.
Volunteers of Rotary HUB invented a way to safely deliver food to the residents of the village of Vilkhuvatka. Our clubmate and volunteer Serhiy Sidorov enlisted the support of the military special battalion of the Kupyansk district and together they handed over food rations from the United Nations (World Food Programme).
The World Food Program is an organization that works under the United Nations and has been providing humanitarian aid in the form of food kits to the affected regions since the first days of the war. We are carrying out a mission in the Kharkiv region.
One box weighs 12.5 kg and consists of: 8 cans of canned meat, 1 bottle of oil, 1 can of canned beans, 6 packs of pasta, 5 bags of flour.
We are grateful to the UN for its comprehensive support. While we are on guard, the occupiers will have sour faces from failure!
