All said and done!
Yesterday we told that we had set ourselves a task - to pay a visit to the donors in order to fulfill a new request: to find a cane for a grandmother from her native Ukraine.
In general, choosing a cane for walking for the elderly is not as easy as it seems. And for this grandmother, the search was especially exciting, since it is about use in wartime.
Fortunately, there are medical volunteers in the Rotary HUB team + our potential donors cooperate with a number of European rehabilitation institutions. So, with the collective mind, we found what we were looking for.
So, a specialized cane is already in the hands of an elderly housewife.
From the reference: such canes with support are recommended for patients with coordination disorders who are severely physically weakened, have suffered a stroke or are in the early stages of the rehabilitation period. Because such retirees need more support than a regular cane.
And the one we donated has 4 support points (guarantees increased stability). Made of steel and aluminum, it has flexible handle adjustments so that the load on the hand is distributed most optimally. And shorter legs do not touch the legs when walking.
We are grateful for the prompt response of the Finnish donors - members of the Ukrainian association in Finland Ukrainalaisten yhystis Suomessa ry / Ukrainian Association in Finland and volunteers of the Logistics Center of the Ukrainian Society Logistiikkakeskus / Logistics Center.
