Medicines as a way of care!
Medicines as a way of care!
Before the full-scale invasion, there were about 21,000 pharmacies in Ukraine. 19% were forced to close. The main reasons are damage to sales points, destroyed logistics, lack of personnel and receivables from distributors.
It certainly affected pricing. In the first months, pharmaceutical companies kept prices at the pre-war level, but after adjusting the exchange rate by the National Bank, they began to raise them by 15-20%.
Socially vulnerable citizens reacted most painfully to this fact (people whose income is less than the subsistence minimum, persons with disabilities, children from large families, etc.). There is not enough money, and the demand for medicines, on the contrary, has increased, in particular for painkillers and neurological drugs, cardioprotectors, anti-inflammatory and anti-rheumatic drugs, as well as drugs for the treatment of chronic diseases.
Our Rotary HUB has been taking care of the health of ordinary Kharkiv residents for almost all 17 months of the war. Because caring about the well-being of others is tantamount to caring about your own health. And Kharkiv is one big, friendly village where everyone is one another's neighbors.
Therefore, this week Rotary volunteer #567 - Mykhailo Bilous - once again provided high-quality medical drugs to those in need. These are pills and syrups of Western production, which we received from members of the Ukrainian association in Finland, Ukrainalaisten yhystys Suomesa ry / Ukrainian Association in Finland and volunteers of the Logistics Center of the Ukrainian Society Logistiikkakeskus / Logistics Center.
We rejoice, because despite the threat to life, we do good!
