It is very useful to have your own wheelchair!

Due to the war unleashed by the Russian authorities, the so-called "three fives" principle operates in Ukraine: every fifth citizen belongs to a privileged category; every fifth vulnerable person lives alone; every fifth citizen who lives alone has lost the capacity for self-care.

State programs aimed at supporting the well-being and health of people with limited mobility, as well as rehabilitation institutions, objectively cannot cope with the number of requests. Unfortunately, only 1 in 10 people who need assistive devices have access to them. A wheelchair is one of the most scarce means.

But the current war proved that barrier-freeness is not just a formality, but a matter of survival. Therefore, the topic of inclusiveness and barrier-freeness is gaining more and more importance. And the Rotary HUB volunteer team is fighting for the right of Kharkiv residents to manage their lives independently.

How? Well, for example, we find and issue disabled equipment to those in need. This woman received a wheelchair from Finnish donors - Logistiikkakeskus / Logistics Center. The delivery was made by our permanent volunteer #165 - Artem Chernyaev.

Persons with disabilities are an integral part of society. That is why we support our people and together we will endure!
