Harland David Sanders, better known as Colonel Sanders, is the founder of KFC, an international fast food chain that specializes in chicken dishes and is second only to McDonald's in terms of turnover.

1. Born in Southern Indiana, Henryville, in 1890.
2. Harland's father died when he was 5 years old. Then he took on the duty of cooking fast food so that his mother would have time to work at the factory. The boy's skills were highly appreciated, and therefore imprinted in his memory JOY FROM SERVING OTHERS
3. In 1930, after working at various jobs (streetcar conductor, blacksmith's assistant, ferry captain), he opened his own gas station in Corbin, Kentucky.

6. At the age of 29, he became one of the founders of the Rotary Club of Jeffersonville, Indiana. After that, he joined the Corbin Rotary Club and then the Shelbyville Rotary Club where he was an active member until his death in 1980. Rumor has it that as a result of his success in the fast food industry, fried chicken is often served at Rotary meetings.
