We continue our craft - we give the people of Kharkiv warmth!

Today, former residents of the most affected districts of Kharkiv, as well as residents of de-occupied communities, have the status of IDPs. the Russian occupier forced them to flee their own apartments and seek temporary shelter. The young and the unmarried left thousands of kilometers away, while the elderly and women with young children had the strength to move as much as possible to a nearby, more peaceful community.

According to the Department of Social Protection of the Population, the largest influx took place in the Valkivska, Lozivska, Zmiivska, Bogoduhivska and Merefyanska communities - a total of more than 60,000 people who were accommodated in local social hotels and hostels. But a quarter of IDPs are unable to work, and therefore survive on humanitarian aid, which they receive from local aid headquarters.

One of these centers is managed by our volunteer Oleksandr Kobzev. And this week he is giving out blankets to the beneficiaries. Because at the moment, the team of the Rotary HUB CAN WARM IMMIGRANTS.

We are doing this as part of the project: "We will warm Ukraine in a difficult hour!" - WE SEW BLANKETS adaptable to war conditions. On one side, the blankets have a raincoat base that protects against moisture, on the other side - on fleece, and inside - heat-insulating hypoallergenic syntapon. Production was started back in March with the aim of equipping unequipped and unsuitable wet rooms/shelters.

Last season, 1,200 blankets were sewn and distributed. Now we need at least 5000 pcs. We were able to share the financial burden with the Rotarians from the Arnprior Rotary Club. We sincerely thank Jane and Gerhard Peters and all Canadians from District 7040 for their donation. With their money, we bought 30 blankets for communities in the Kharkiv region and have already handed them over.
