Medicines as a way of care!
Medicines as a way of care!
Before the full-scale invasion, there were about 21,000 pharmacies in Ukraine. 19% were forced to close. The main reasons are damage to sales points, destroyed logistics, lack of personnel and receivables from distributors.
It certainly affected pricing. In the first months, pharmaceutical companies kept prices at the pre-war level, but in August, after the National Bank adjusted the exchange rate, they began to raise prices by 15-20%.
Socially vulnerable citizens reacted most painfully to this fact (people whose income is less than the subsistence minimum, persons with disabilities, children from large families, etc.). There is not enough money, and the demand for medicines, on the contrary, has increased, in particular for painkillers and neurological drugs, cardioprotectors, anti-inflammatory and anti-rheumatic drugs, as well as drugs for the treatment of chronic diseases.
For almost 10 months, our Rotary HUB has been taking care of the health of ordinary Kharkiv residents. Because caring about the well-being of others is tantamount to caring about your own health. And Kharkiv is one big, friendly village where everyone is one another's neighbors.
Therefore, this week Rotary volunteers - Serhiy Yakovenko and Lyudmila Usoltseva - once again provided high-quality medical drugs to the elderly. These are French-made pills that we received from the humanitarian Logistics Hub in Tulcea (Romania) Tulcea Humanitarian Logistics Hub, Filiala Judeţeană Tulcea a Asociaţiei Comunelor din România, Romulus T. Weatherman Foundation, IsraAID, IsraAID Moldova and Romania, Protection Civile with the participation of the Embassy of Ukraine in Romania and supporting, as moderators, the Rotary HUB of Izmail, which operates on the basis of the Rotary Club Izmail.
We rejoice, because despite the threat to life, we do good!
